We're happy to announce the first Linux release of Opticks!

This is an unofficial alpha release for 64-bit x86 Debian based system. Limited smoke testing has been performed on Ubuntu 9.04. This has not been rigorously tested and is marked as a Developer's release only. It is not equivalent to 4.3.0 and contains a number of bug fixes. It has been generated from trunk revision 6978.

This is a .deb which can be installed as follows:

become root using su or sudo
dpkg -i opticks-4.3.1Nightly20090616.deb

This will install the software to /opt/Opticks
You can run the application using /opt/Opticks/Bin/Opticks

This is a release build and includes the tutorial and plug-in sampler plug-ins.

We encourage Linux users to test this build and provide feedback to dev@opticks.ballforge.net or http://issues.ballforge.net

Update: Additional details on getting the raw binaries, for those that can't easily install debs can be found on the mailing list, here
