Summary
Congratulations to our three Google Summer of Code students!
The 4.7.0rc1 rollup is happening this week. The next maintenance release (4.7.1) will likely occur towards the end of the summer.
kstreith is working on converting the Opticks build system to cmake. If you want to test it, watch the mailing list for further information.

2011-05-02T14:06:15 <tclarke> the notes from last time are here http://opticks.org/confluence/display/opticksChat/April+18%2C+2011+Meeting+Notes

2011-05-02T14:06:32 <tclarke> if you see any problems, let me know otherwise we'll approve them
2011-05-02T14:06:44 <tclarke> we accepted 3 summer of code students last week
2011-05-02T14:06:48 <tclarke> congratulations!
2011-05-02T14:07:05 <tclarke> all three projects look exciting and should contribute quite a bit to Opticks
2011-05-02T14:07:26 <tclarke> two of them are in non-traditional areas for Opticks: Digital photo processing and astronomy
2011-05-02T14:07:35 <tclarke> the third is an interesting SAR algorithm
2011-05-02T14:08:05 <tclarke> since we are still in the introductory phase, we won't talk much about SoC today but look for updates in future meetings
2011-05-02T14:08:16 <tclarke> next topic is the Opticks release schedule
2011-05-02T14:08:28 <tclarke> the 4.7.0rc1 rollup starts today
2011-05-02T14:08:44 <dsulgrov> here
2011-05-02T14:08:54 <tclarke> we expect an rc1 (core and all extensions) the end of the week so please look for that and test it when it becomes available
2011-05-02T14:09:17 <tclarke> we don't have an exact schedule for future releases but there will likely be a 4.7.1 towards the end of the summer
2011-05-02T14:09:25 <tclarke> watch the mailing list and JIRA for more information
2011-05-02T14:09:31 <tclarke> anything else to discuss today
2011-05-02T14:09:32 <tclarke> ?
2011-05-02T14:09:49 <kstreith> if anyone is interested, i've been looking at CMake
2011-05-02T14:10:08 <kstreith> specifically switching opticks and all of extensions (python, idl, spectral) over
2011-05-02T14:10:40 <kstreith> i think it make it much easier for others to build opticks and extensions
2011-05-02T14:11:17 <kstreith> i also think it much easier for plug-in developers to use instead of trying to mess with visual studio directly or mess with makefiles directly
2011-05-02T14:11:52 <tclarke> a lot of FOSS projects seem to be moving to cmake
2011-05-02T14:12:15 <tclarke> from the little I've used it the tool seems flexible and easy to use on mulitiple platforms (including windows)
2011-05-02T14:12:48 <tclarke> I'd love to see a branch we can try when you get enough complete to build some of Opticks (the core exe and a couple of plug-ins to start)
2011-05-02T14:12:49 <tclarke> .
2011-05-02T14:12:50 <kstreith> i also will be publishing some python code to load landsat 5/7 data into opticks and convert into reflectance and temperature
2011-05-02T14:13:02 <kstreith> look for that no later than next week
2011-05-02T14:13:26 <kstreith> that's it for me
2011-05-02T14:13:52 <tclarke> anything else?
2011-05-02T14:14:24 <tclarke> ok, watch the mailing list for meeting notes
2011-05-02T14:14:30 <tclarke> next meeting in a couple of weeks
2011-05-02T14:14:33 <tclarke> thanks for attending
