This page will provide instructions on how to install extensions you've downloaded into Opticks.
Before You Start
- You must have Opticks already installed on your computer. If not, please Download and install.
- You must have already downloaded the extension you plan to install. After you have downloaded an extension, you must make sure the extension of the downloaded file is ".aeb". Some browsers will rename the extension to ".zip", which will not permit the extension to be installed into Opticks.
Installing an Extension
- Start Opticks
- You must ensure that are running Opticks as an administrator or root. If you do not, the extension will more than likely not install.
- Drag and drop the extension file (.aeb) from the filesystem onto the Opticks window.

Drag and Drop Not Working?
If drag and drop does not work. You can click on the "Help" menu in Opticks and then click on "Extensions..." to bring up a listing of all installed extensions. If you then click on the "Install..." button at the bottom of this dialog, you can browse to the location of 1 or more .aeb files that you would like to install
You can drag and drop multiple extensions at once. - The "Install wizard" dialog should pop-up in Opticks.
- Review any license agreement and click "I Agree".
- Click "Finish" to start the installation of the extension.
- Once the installation is finished, shutdown Opticks and start it again.
- Congratulations, the extension is now installed.
- You can verify the extension is installed, by going to the extensions listing in Opticks. You can find it under "Help -> Extensions..." from the main menu.
